Back to School Group Therapy (Online)
Understanding Back-to-School Anxiety: Back-to-school anxiety is a common emotional response triggered by the anticipation of returning to school after a break. It can manifest in different ways, such as nervousness, restlessness, trouble sleeping, irritability, or a lack of appetite. Students of all ages can experience these feelings.
Common Causes of Back-to-School Anxiety
- Academic Pressure: Fear of the unknown academic challenges and expectations for the upcoming year.
- Social Pressures: Concerns about making new friends, fitting in, or dealing with social dynamics.
- Transitions: Moving from one school level to another or starting in a new school altogether.
- Separation Anxiety: Younger students may have difficulty leaving their parents or caregivers after being together during the break.
- Bullying: Past experiences with bullying may lead to anxiety about encountering similar situations.
- Performance Anxiety: Worrying about meeting parental or personal expectations can lead to performance-related anxiety.
